Born in Makeni, Sierra Leone, defender Alpha Kanu joined Philadelphia Lone Star FC in the latter part of 2017.

The 25-year-old defender has been a rock in defense for the UPSL squad for the past two seasons, helping to qualify the team for two successive American Division playoff appearances.

Kanu played for local side Upper Darby FC in the CASA league before becoming a Star in 2018.
